Repress of the 2013 Har Nevo album. On black vinyl, silver edition sold out. Musically The Black Heart Rebellion have evolved into a tribalistic beast. Guitars lower in the mix, drums and additional percussive elements compliment Pieter Uyttenhove’s impassioned vocals. Opener ‘Avraham’ demonstrates this beautifully. Chimes, bells, cello and percussion blending until Uyttenhove’s breathless vocals begin. Then the feeling of being chased through the woods by an axe-murderer takes over. Something about TBHR reminds me of the much missed The God Machine, but more in the grandiose delivery rather than a direct musical comparision perhaps. There is also a shared vibe with fellow Belgian titans Amenra but without their crushing heaviness. Indeed the friendship between them extends to a collaborative sharing of artistic and musical philosophies and mutual appreciation.

lyrics
Oh sinnerman
You’ve nestled quite deep inside my chest
I have grown close to you
For Better or for worse
Oh sinnerman
I know all that roams must come home
Why am i still feeding on the serpents that i bear
Why am i still kneeling for the cross that i wear
Sinnerman
I grew cold to you
Sinnerman

I love the light and shade between Bryan's dirty and Emma's forlorn vocals. There are so many layers to this recording that are driven home through contrast. Plus the riffs are brilliant and get me moving. I can't stop listening to Thou and Emma in general lately. spaceman2250
The four songs on the new EP from Rylie DeGarmo give country melodies a mysterious glow, recalling the best of Cowboy Junkies. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 25, 2022
